Xabi Alonso Says Bayern Can Bounce Back.

Former Real Madrid player, Xabi Alonso has faith that his current club Bayern Munich can recover the Champions League semi-final loss against Atletico Madrid.

The German club are looking forward to hosting the Diego Simeone led team at home next week.

Saul Niguez gave Atletico a first leg lead with a solo goal early in the first half but Alonso, a winner in the 2014 final against Atletico with Real Madrid, warned Los Colchoneros about believing they’re already in this year’s final, which will be played at San Siro.

“I leave with the feeling that we didn’t get the result we wanted. It could be better or worse. Maybe Atletico think they’re already in Milan, but there are 90 minutes left. We can do it at home,” Alonso said, AS reports.

“They played as we expected. In the second half we were better and we realise we will need a great game in Munich. They started better. They created difficulties with the second balls. We have to learn, not complain, so it doesn’t happen at the Allianz Arena. We can do it, we believe in ourselves.

“Saul’s goal? Yes, a lot of merit. With the pitch being dry…we should have stopped him, but it was a great goal.”
