US will not send troops to fight, White House says

Throughout the day, we have heard officials from around the world react to France’s suggestion that the option to send troops to Ukraine should not be ruled out.

Now, the White House has commented on the remarks, saying the US will not send troops to fight.

“President Biden has been clear that the US will not send troops to fight in Ukraine,” National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said. 

Her comments came as Mr Biden met with officials to discuss funding issues, including aid for Kyiv. 

A host of other countries, including the UK, Italy, Germany and Poland, have also said they have no plans to send ground troops to Ukraine.
