The White House has welcomed two major U.S. Supreme Court rulings that handed President Donald Trump significant legal victories on immigration, describing the decisions as important steps toward advancing the administration’s border security and immigration enforcement policies.
The rulings allow the administration to move forward with ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for certain groups of migrants while also permitting federal authorities to continue turning away asylum seekers before they enter the United States. Administration officials said the decisions reinforce the executive branch’s authority to implement immigration policies aimed at strengthening border controls.
Reacting to the judgments, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said:
“The Supreme Court has once again affirmed the rule of law and the constitutional authority of the President to secure our borders.”
She added:
“These are two monumental victories for the American people and for the safety and security of our nation.”
The administration argued that the decisions will help reduce unlawful migration while allowing immigration authorities to enforce existing laws more effectively. Officials also maintained that the rulings align with President Trump’s longstanding commitment to strengthening border security and reforming the U.S. immigration system.
The Supreme Court’s decisions have drawn mixed reactions across the political spectrum. Supporters view them as a major endorsement of the administration’s immigration policies, while critics argue they could limit humanitarian protections for migrants seeking refuge in the United States.
