Wayne Rooney thinks Ronaldo can win the Champions League with Juventus

Manchester United v Liga De Quito - FIFA Club World Cup 2008 Final

Wayne Rooney believes his former Manchester United teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, can break another Champions League record with Juventus.

Ronaldo, who played for Sporting Lisbon and Real Madrid before joining Juventus this summer, admitted he still has eye for trophies despite speculations on his retirement—and Rooney thinks the Serie A Champions were smart to have swooped on the prolific goalscorer.

Speaking with CNN Sport, Rooney claimed that Juventus “have everything they need to win the CL this season.”

The former England national team captain says Ronaldo is sure to continue with what he has been doing in the past 10 years—winning collective and individual trophies.

‘He [Ronaldo] will bring lots of goals to Juve,’ Rooney said of his 33-year-old friend.

‘Juventus are my favorites for this the 2018/19 Champions League trophy,’ he continued, ‘because they have Cristiano.

‘I love the Portugal international footballer. He’s a nice guy, a family guy and someone who dedicates his time, energy and everything to achieve goals.

‘It’s even more interesting that he has his family to support these decisions.

‘I think Cristiano deserves all the credit he gets because he works hard to stay at the top.’

Both Rooney and Ronaldo won the FA Cup, three English Premier League titles and the last UEFA Champions League title with Manchester United.

Ronaldo’s first Serie A match for Juventus ended in victory even though he is yet to score. Much will be expected him when the Bianconeri face Lazio at the Allianz Stadium.
