Russian-installed officials in Ukraine say that Moscow’s forces have destroyed a US-supplied Abrams tank on the battlefield for the first time.
“From the very beginning, our soldiers said that these tanks would burn just like others,” state news agency RIA quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.
Mr Peskov was referring to previous instances where Russia says it has destroyed Western weaponry in Ukraine.

Last year, the Biden administration said it would send Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
It has a 1,500-horsepower turbine engine – notoriously low on fuel efficiency – and a 120mm main gun.
The tank can make a difference on the battlefield through “lethal firepower, unparalleled survivability, and audacious manoeuvre”, the US army says.
