A group of people with trucks have taken fuel and medical equipment from a UN compound in Gaza City.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) says they had claimed to be local health officials.
Security cameras that normally monitored the entrance and exit to UNRWA’s headquarters had been damaged following explosions in recent days – and it’s unclear who is responsible.
All of this comes as fuel runs critically low in Gaza, with hospitals warning their supplies could be exhausted within hours.
In a statement, the agency said: “UNRWA’s fuel and other types of material are kept for strictly humanitarian purposes, and any use of such assets for any other purposes is strongly condemned.”
UNRWA staff had to evacuate their headquarters with a few hours’ notice on Friday night.
