Russian aircraft destroyed four boats carrying Ukrainian landing forces headed for Crimea, according to its defence ministry.
It said the US-made Willard Marine Sea Force inflatable boats were headed in the direction of Cape Tarkhankut when they were sunk in the Black Sea this morning.
Military grade Sea Force boats can carry anywhere between six and 18 people depending on the model, according to Willard Marine’s website.
It is unclear whether there have been any casualties.
There was no immediate comment from Ukraine, and Sky News cannot independently verify these battlefield reports.
