The UK Foreign Office has advised against all travel to Lebanon.

UK citizens currently in the country are being urged to leave while commercial flights are available.

It follows violent demonstrations in Beirut today after the blast which reportedly left hundreds dead at al Ahli hospital in Gaza.

There has also been an escalation in hostilities along the Lebanese-Israeli border since the conflict erupted.

Hundreds protest outside Downing Street

Despite the heavy rain in London, hundreds gathered at a vigil outside Downing Street tonight to honour those killed in the al Ahli Hospital explosion in Gaza.

Demonstrators held “Free Palestine” signs and distributed flyers, highlighting the desire for global attention not just on the hospital tragedy but also the broader Palestinian losses.

The crowd’s numbers rose, leading to road closures by the police due to the overwhelming turnout.

Protests have erupted around the Middle East since the explosion at the hospital, with demonstrators in Amman in Jordan clashing with police – but the atmosphere in London was calmer.
