UK, Denmark step up tactics against Moscow

UK announces 50 new sanctions

The Foreign Office has announced 50 new sanctions designed to diminish Russia’s military power.

The sanctions aim to crack down on people and businesses supplying munitions such as rocket launch systems, missiles and explosives.

Sources of Russian revenue will also be subject to the restrictions, including metals, diamonds, and energy.

“Our sanctions are starving Putin of the resources he desperately needs to fund his struggling war. Together, we will not let up in the face of tyranny,” said Foreign Secretary David Cameron.

Denmark unveils £195m military aid – and urges allies to do more

Denmark has announced a new £195m military aid package for Ukraine.

Accompanying the donation was an urgent appeal to allies to step up funding.

The NATO member has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine and is among the biggest contributors of military aid relative to the size of its economy.

“It is necessary to emphasise that if they are to succeed on the battlefield, more donations must come now,” Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said.

“We continue to make further Danish donations in the hope that more countries will do the same, not in six or 12 months, but now when the need is very, very big.”
