Sixth person charged for alleged spying offences linked to Russia
A sixth person has been charged for alleged spying offences linked to Russia as part of a Metropolitan Police investigation.
Tihomir Ivanov Ivanchev has been remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
The 37-year-old from Acton in west London has been charged with conspiring to collect information intended to be directly or indirectly useful to an enemy for a purpose prejudicial to the safety and interest of the state.
The Bulgarian was arrested on 7 February 2024 as part of an ongoing investigation being led by the Met’s Counterterrorism Command.
He was subsequently bailed, and was charged earlier today.
As part of the same investigation, five people have previously been charged and are due on trial in October.
