A deal between Hamas and Israel could see 50 Israeli hostages released and fighting paused for days, according to a source close to the negotiations.
An unspecified number of Palestinian women and children would also be released from jails in Israel under the terms of the agreement, the source told the Reuters news agency.
The Qatar-mediated talks are in their “final stages”, the source added, with an outcome “closer than it has ever been”.
More than 100 patients moved to south Gaza hospital
Several injured children, women and men have been transferred from northern Gaza to Nasser Hospital in the south of the region.
It came after heavy fighting broke out around the Indonesian Hospital, which has housed thousands of patients and displaced people for weeks.
Their injuries varied in severity, but some were critical and required urgent surgical intervention, according to doctors.
The Indonesian Hospital has been overwhelmed since the start of the Hamas-Israel war, the hospital’s head of public relations Moeen al Masri told AP.
“The hospital was overcrowded, patients lying on the floor because there is no room for them in the inpatient unit,” he said.
“The hospital’s capacity is 140 beds, yesterday there were nearly 600 injured people in the hospital.”
Health officials said hundreds of patients and displaced people were trapped inside with dwindling supplies after some 200 were evacuated yesterday.
Fighting intensified outside the facility on the outskirts of Jabaliya on Monday, with staff reporting Israeli tanks rolling in and snipers positioning themselves on the roofs of nearby buildings.
