Slovakia is ready to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, says Vladimir Putin.
The Russian president said the Slovakian authorities “would be happy to provide their own country as a platform for negotiations”.
“We are not opposed, if it comes to that,” he added. “Why not? Since Slovakia takes such a neutral position.”
For context: Roberto Fico, Slovakia’s prime minister, recently became only the third Western leader to visit Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin.
Fico has been a vocal critic of the EU’s support for Ukraine in the war.
