If you’re just joining us, a second Ukrainian drone attack on a Black Sea vessel in 24 hours is the biggest overnight development.
The vessel, identified as a Sig tanker by Russian media, was hit around 17 miles (27km) south of the Kerch Bridge, which connects occupied Crimea and Russia.
According to Russia’s Federal Agency for Marine and River Transport on Telegram, the engine room was damaged.
There were 11 members of crew on board, but no one was hurt and traffic on the bridge has now been restored.
Two tugboats attended the incident from the Russian side and ferry and road traffic had to be stopped on the bridge, according to Russian authorities in Crimea.
The tanker is one of Russia’s largest and owned by St Petersburg-based Transpetrochart. It was sanctioned by the US in 2019 for helping provide jet fuel to Russian forces in Syria.
It was being used to transport fuel for Russian troops.
The attack came from a water drone, which used 450kg of TNT.
Unverified footage on social media shows the attack taking place.
