It’s a little unclear exactly what has happened in Russia’s reported foiling of a “Ukrainian saboteur” operation in the west of the country.

As we reported at 1.40pm, security service FSB said they killed four people who trying to get into Russia’s Bryansk region.

A statement from the service, released via state media TASS, said: “In addition to foreign weapons, explosive devices, communication and navigation devices, FPV drones with stickers ‘Property of the FSB of Russia’ and Russian symbols were found at the site of the clash, which indicates the preparation of provocations and sabotage actions on Russian territory.”

The regional governor has claimed now that five people were killed.

Writing on Telegram, Aleksandr Bogomaz said that “an attempt by a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group consisting of six militants to penetrate the territory of the Bryansk region was foiled at 7.00am today”.

It’s not clear what has happened to the sixth “militant” being referred to.

Four reportedly killed as Russia claims to have foiled ‘Ukrainian saboteurs’ again

We’re hearing from state media that Russia’s security service has foiled an attempt by what they call “Ukrainian saboteurs” for the second time in two days.

As in yesterday’s incident, the “saboteurs” were caught trying to cross the border into Russia’s Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine to the south and Belarus to the east.

Four people were reportedly killed today by Russia’s security service, the FSB.

State media didn’t give any details about what was being planned.
