Russia scrambled fighter jet over approach of two US bombers

Russia scrambled a MiG-31 fighter jet following the approach of two US B-1B bombers towards the Russian border over the Barents Sea, the Russian defence ministry has said.

The American aircraft turned away once the MiG-31 had become airborne, the ministry added.
