A Moldovan court has said members of the country’s pro-Russian Shor party can take part in local elections – just months after banning it.
Moldova’s Constitutional Court announced the decision today following a complaint by Shor members.
The party, led by exiled oligarch Ilan Shor, was behind a series of anti-government protests earlier this year. The West and the Moldovan government have accused it of attempts to destabilise the country.
The court declared Shor unconstitutional in June, seeing it immediately banned.
Shor members hoping to contest the local elections in November will be able to stand as independent candidates or members of other parties, it ruled today.
