Manchester City star Rodri is once again on the front cover of Spanish publication Marca, which is claiming the midfielder is now “eager” to join Real Madrid because of Pep Guardiola’s exit.
The front cover shows an upside down image of Rodri with the words “vendria de cabeza”, which translates as “Rodri would come headfirst”.
“Rodri has long been Real Madrid’s great unfulfilled dream”, Marca writes, and “Guardiola’s departure opens a door that for years remained completely closed”.
Guardiola, who is expected to leave City at the end of the season, brought Rodri to the Premier League from Atletico Madrid, who, Marca reports, were always unwilling to sell to Real Madrid.
Marca claim Rodri’s name comes up in discussions at Real Madrid in every transfer window as the solution to reorganise their midfield.
And now they are reporting Rodri is “very keen” to wear the Real Madrid shirt following news of Guardiola’s exit emerging, with the Spanish club believing a transfer could be “viable”.
