Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has revealed a secret love between Jose Mourinho and his client which has lasted a few years before the Manchester United deal.
Mino spoke with an Italian TV channel Rai Sport, claiming the Portuguese coach has always wanted to have Pogba play for him.
The Manchester United tactician proposed an “unofficial” bid for the midfielder even as a Chelsea coach, but both parties failed to reach an agreement, according to the agent. Juventus decided to keep their star at that time.
“Paul could have left [Juventus] last year because Mourinho—then at Chelsea—really wanted him,” Raiola said.
“But Juventus and I had agreement: win the league title and the Champions League, then he can go.”
Unfortunately, Juve couldn’t win the UEFA Champions League, after Bayern Munich sent them packing at the round of 16. But The Old Lady was lucky to grab another Serie A title with Pogba playing a key role in the achievement which is also their fourth in a row.
Mino’s client then shot to limelight shortly before and after Euro 2016 with the world’s biggest clubs–Real Madrid and Manchester United–struggling for his signatures.
After a long transfer saga with the billionaire clubs, Pogba eventually agreed on a move to Old Trafford. The deal was worth a whooping £89 million ($115.2 million).

Mino continues with a claim that Juventus should be grateful to the player, adding that the club wouldn’t have had enough cash to acquire other big names after his client’s exit to England.
In his words: “De Laurentiis should prepare a gift for Paul, because ‘without his sale Juve would have never taken Higuain from Napoli at a fee of 94 million. They would never have been able to cash out.”
