Paul Pogba – Martial is a big talent; one of the best I’ve ever seen

Spread the love

Anthony Martial got a callback from France national team coach Didier Deschamps for their international friendly against Wales on Friday following the youngster’s exploits in the Premier League, and teammate Paul Pogba has nothing but praises for his close friend.

Martial, who plays for Manchester United as a central defender, won EPL’s Player of the Month awards in two consecutive months, and has made a huge impact in the club’s 2017-18 campaign.

The 21-year-old is expected to play a big role in their upcoming Tuesday game against Germany, after trashing Wales 2-0 last Friday.

However, Pogba, who granted an interview to Manchester United TV ahead of their UEFA Champions League fixture against Basel, showed optimism that his friend still has a place among Les Blues.

Martial sustained a hamstring injury in the game and was kept on the sidelines for a few months, yet there’s a great chance he will pass through the intense competition for spots in Deschamps’s team and likely play at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

While Martial is expected to fire from all cylinders against Newcastle in their upcoming 18 November match, Pogba hopes he starts against Germany.

‘He will definitely come back to where he belongs [the first team]. He showcased talent during our pre-season tours and I rate him as an awesome footballer,’ Pogba told MUTV.

“Manchester United Is To Blame For My Divorce,” Player’s Wife Claims.

He continued, ‘He [Martial] made a huge impact in the team’s successes during the start of this season. I don’t know how best to describe him but he’s a big, big, big player…highly talented…and definitely one of the best players I’ve ever played or trained with.

‘There’s more of him to come. I bet the world hasn’t seen a bit of it. He will surely improve with time.’

Martial played his first professional football at Lyon and later moved to AS Monaco in 2013 for a fee of €6 million.

The Massy-born star spent two seasons at the French club side before Manchester United swooped on him with an an initial fee of £36 million in 2015. The outrageous amount which media reports confirmed could potentially rise to £57.6 million, made headlines as the highest fee for a teenager in football history, even without the increase.

In his first month at Old Trafford, he was awarded Player of the Month. He also won the Golden Boy Award in 2015 as the best under-21 player in Europe.
