Israeli special forces confirm operation inside Gaza hospital

Israeli special forces have confirmed they are operating inside Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

According to IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari, the operation is “based on intelligence information indicating terrorist activity by Hamas at the hospital”.

He says that “a number of suspects have been detained at the hospital”.

An IDF statement adds that “bodies of hostages” may also be being kept inside the hospital.

Targeting hospitals is a violation of international law.

Israel says they gave patients and staff until 7am this morning to evacuate.

Mr Hagari adds: “Regarding the importance of preventing harm to citizens, patients, medical teams and medical equipment.

“The IDF will continue to act in accordance with international law and against the terrorist organization Hamas, which operates from hospitals and civilian infrastructure in a systematic and cynical pattern of operation.”
