One patient dead in strike on Gaza hospital

Israeli forces fired on the main hospital in southern Gaza yesterday, killing a patient and wounding six others, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.

Nasser Hospital, in the city of Khan Younis, has been a key part of Gaza’s struggling health system.

Israel has accused Hamas of using hospitals and other civilian buildings as places to shield its fighters.

This has seen the IDF target the likes of the hospital, which many in Gaza and beyond say is a violation of international law.

Israeli forces gave the hospital until 7am local time to evacuate before soldiers arrived.

According to reports on the ground, the attack is ongoing.

Social media footage shows doctors scrambling to wheel patients on stretchers through a corridor filled with smoke or dust.

Separately, the Palestine Red Crescent is reporting “intense shelling in the vicinity of PRCS Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, resulting in damage to the building”.

Senior Hezbollah leader vows revenge for Israeli attack on Lebanon

A senior Hezbollah official has said Israel will “pay the price for these crimes” after the death of 10 civilians and three of its fighters in an attack on the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh.

Hassan Fadlallah, who is also a member of the Lebanese parliament, made a statement to Reuters on Thursday.

The attack happened late on Wednesday and came in response to the death of an Israeli soldier in a Lebanese strike over the border.

Hezbollah, backed by Iran, is also an ally of Hamas.
