Palestinians search through rubble after Israeli strikes destroy houses

We can now bring you some pictures from Rafah, in southern Gaza.

People from the north and from as close as Khan Younis have flocked to the city in their thousands – believing it to be safer than other parts of Gaza.

However, Israeli strikes have hit the city since a ceasefire deal collapsed at the start of the month, and IDF attentions turned to the south of the enclave.

These pictures show people searching through the rubble of buildings of what was once their homes, looking for anything and anyone that might have survived the destruction.

White House to have discussions with Israel over war timetable

Some more international developments to bring you now – again involving the White House.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan has said he will discuss the Israeli war timetable when he visits the country in the near future.

“The subject of how they are seeing the timetable of this war will certainly be on the agenda for my meetings,” said Mr Sullivan.

As per our 5.31pm post, the strong ties between Israel and the US are beginning to see some signs of tension – with Washington desperate for the IDF to do more to wrap up the conflict quickly and with as few civilian casualties as possible.

Israel has insisted it will take as long as it needs to root out and destroy Hamas.
