The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says one of its employees has been killed.
Posting on social media, the organisation says Israeli forces have been firing towards its headquarters in Gaza’s southern city of Khan Younis.
It says “a number” of displaced individuals were also killed and others wounded.
The PRCS has named the female employee as Hidaya Hamad, the Director of the Youth and Volunteers Department in Gaza.
Khan Younis has been the scene of intense battles between the Israeli military and Hamas in recent weeks.
Earlier, Israel’s defence minister Yoav Gallant said Israeli troops “are achieving our missions in Khan Younis” in their fight against Hamas (see post at 7.28am).
Israel’s air and ground offensive could now move to nearby Rafah, the region’s most southern city, where more than half of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are estimated to be sheltering from the Israeli bombardment.
