Over 4 Million Tubes of Toothpaste Recalled Nationwide, Including Popular Children’s Brands

A nationwide recall has been issued for more than 4.3 million tubes of toothpaste—many of them marketed to children with popular character themes—due to manufacturing practice deviations, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

What Triggered the Recall?

The voluntary recall was initiated by Pritam International Private Limited, an India-based manufacturer, on September 10, 2026 . The FDA classified it as a Class II recall on October 19, citing “current good manufacturing practice (CGMP) deviations” . CGMP refers to federal standards ensuring products are made consistently and safely; a deviation means the manufacturing process did not meet requirements, though it does not necessarily mean the toothpaste itself is harmful .

A Class II recall means the product may cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” but the likelihood of serious harm is considered remote . No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recall .

Which Products Are Affected?

The recall covers 17 different toothpaste products sold under the Brush Buddies, Evo, and ARU brands, distributed nationwide by Ashtel Studios Inc. of Ontario, California . The affected tubes carry expiration dates ranging from November 2026 through June 2028 .

What Should You Do If You Have Recalled Toothpaste?

The FDA’s recall notice does not include specific instructions for consumers, and neither the manufacturer nor the distributor has issued public guidance on returns or refunds . The safest approach:

  1. Check your toothpaste against the FDA’s recall notice, matching the brand, lot number, and expiration date.
  2. Stop using it immediately and discard it if it matches.
  3. Switch to a different fluoride toothpaste to maintain your family’s brushing routine.
  4. Keep your receipt or photograph the packaging in case a refund process is announced later.
  5. If you or your child used the product and have concerns, contact your dentist or doctor .
