They used to be five but later became four, one went solo and the rest stayed together. That’s the true story of One Direction and Zayn Malik, who moved on with life and music since abandoning the all-boys music group in March 2015.
Simon Cowells, who owns a record label Syco Records, smartly signed the five talented singers after they finished third in the U.K.’s X-Factor in 2010.
Cowell told reporters that it “took him 10 minutes to put them together as a group” after their thrilling individual performances.
The music group gained fame through social media and has so far released some evergreen songs which include: “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Live While We’re Young,” and “Story Of My Life.”
One Direction, also known as 1D is an Irish-English pop group based in London.
Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have released five studio albums – excluding some singles.
One Direction has won 6 Brit Awards, 27 Teen Choice Awards, 4 MTV Music Video Awards, 11 MTV Europe Music Video Awards, 7 American Music Awards and more.
Louis Tomlinson, 25, says his route to being a successful solo musician has been complicated. He has released some single tracks but remains a member of 1D.
Speaking in an interview with SiriusXM, the singer-actor and songwriter shared his joy as a father but regrets the passing of his mother Johannah who died at the age of 43 after battling leukemia.
Despite all his life struggles, Tomlinson said he is as focused as ever. The famous singer however confessed that he had suicidal thoughts after his mother’s death.
“But it was my mum who said to me that I’ve just got to keep going,” he said. “She told me very sternly that she wanted me to.”
The Doncaster-born star said the birth of his son Freddie Reign, who’ll be 1 year old on Saturday, was an inspiration to him.
“It’s affected how I am as a person a little bit,” he said. “I’d like to say it’s made me a bit more mature – I don’t know if that’s actually true.
“Definitely! But at the moment,” he responded when asked about his plans for another child.
“I’ve got Freddie and I’m trying to stay career-driven,” he said.
“[On his relationship with Zayn Malik] I think a lot of us have spoken recently, me and Zayn have spoken recently, we’ve gotten to a point now where you can just really be happy for each other,” he said.
“Things have happened in the past, of course. And his first song was an absolute smash, and that’s a great song, so yeah it’s nice.”
Media reports confirmed today that Tomlinson has called it quits with his 21-year-old girlfriend named Danielle Campbell.
A source told Bang Showbiz: “Louis and Danielle have made the decision to split up but they are still going to be mates.
“They’re still talking to each other and there is no bad feeling whatsoever.”
