Ondo Government Confirms Release Of Abducted Nine-Year-Old Boy

The Ondo State Government has confirmed the release of a nine-year-old boy who was abducted in Akure, the state capital, after spending several days in captivity.

The child, whose disappearance generated widespread concern among residents and prompted an intensive search effort by security agencies, was reunited with his family following coordinated operations involving law enforcement authorities and other relevant stakeholders.

Confirming the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Gbenga Atiba, said the boy was released safely and is currently receiving the necessary care and support following the traumatic experience.

“At present, the boy is safe and has been reunited with his family,” Atiba stated.

He commended the efforts of security agencies and individuals who contributed information that aided the successful resolution of the case, stressing that the government remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

According to the government, investigations into the circumstances surrounding the abduction are ongoing, with security operatives continuing efforts to identify and apprehend all those involved in the crime.

Atiba assured residents that authorities would not relent in pursuing perpetrators of kidnapping and other criminal activities, noting that the state government has intensified measures aimed at strengthening security and safeguarding communities.

“The government remains resolute in its determination to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure that residents can go about their lawful activities without fear,” he said.

The abduction had sparked anxiety within the community, with family members, residents, and concerned citizens calling for urgent intervention from security agencies to secure the child’s release.

Following reports of the incident, security operatives launched investigations and deployed intelligence-gathering measures aimed at tracking the kidnappers and securing the victim’s freedom.
