Netanyahu: We demand action from British government

Weakness “gaslights one antisemitic attack after another in London”, Benjamin Netanyahu has said.

In a statement shared on social media, the Israeli prime minister added “words are not enough to confront this scourge”.

“We demand and expect action by the British government to protect the Jews of England and bring antisemites to justice,” he said.

This echoes a statement from the country’s foreign ministry, which said earlier the UK must “act decisively and urgently”.

CST ramping up security – as it calls attacks on Jewish people ‘an affront to our country’

Jewish security group CST says it will be “increasing security measures even further” in the wake of the attack as it is formally declared a terrorist incident.

“This is the second declared terrorist attack on Britain’s Jewish community in seven months, following the Islamist terror attack at Heaton Park Synagogue in October in which Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby were tragically killed,” the group said in a post to X.

CST paid tribute to those who responded to the incident this morning and said: “We will be increasing security measures even further, working with our partners in the police and government, in the coming days.”

“This series of violent attacks on the Jewish community is unprecedented and completely unacceptable,” it said.

“It is an affront to our country and to our British way of life and every effort must be made, by all parts of society, to combat it.”
