Netanyahu: Iran War Over When Nuclear Sites Are Dismantled

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel’s military campaign against Iran is continuing and warned additional action may still be necessary.

“I think it accomplished a great deal, but it’s not over,” Netanyahu told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett in an interview airing on “60 Minutes.”

Netanyahu said Iran continues to maintain nuclear-enrichment capabilities, ballistic missile programs, and regional proxy networks despite recent strikes by Israel and the United States. He said more work remains to dismantle those operations.

“There are still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled. There are still proxies that Iran supports. There are ballistic missiles that they still want to produce,” Netanyahu said. “Now, we’ve degraded a lot of it. But all that is still there, and there’s work to be done.”

Garrett pressed Netanyahu on how Israel or allied nations could remove Iran’s remaining uranium stockpiles and nuclear infrastructure. Netanyahu declined to discuss military specifics but suggested direct intervention remained an option.

“You go in and you take it out,” Netanyahu said. “I’m not gonna talk about military means, but what President Donald Trump has said to me, ‘I want to go in there.’ And I think it can be done physically. That’s not the problem.”

Netanyahu added that any agreement with Iran would require direct oversight and enforcement to ensure nuclear material is removed.

“If you have an agreement, and you go in, and you take it out, why not? That’s the best way,” he said.

The United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran in February, escalating tensions across the Middle East. The attacks reportedly killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and triggered weeks of military exchanges throughout the region.

President Donald Trump initially predicted the conflict could last four to five weeks. The war has now entered its sixth week, although the United States and Iran have since moved toward a ceasefire agreement while negotiations continue.

Trump previously vowed military operations would continue until “PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!” was achieved.

Netanyahu declined to provide a timeline for the broader operation or to say how long Israeli forces may remain engaged.

“I’m not gonna give a timetable to it,” Netanyahu said. “But I’m gonna say that’s a terrifically important mission.”
