Canada summons Russian ambassador over Navalny death
The Canadian government has summoned Russia’s ambassador over the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
A government spokesperson said Ottawa was calling on the Kremlin to conduct a full and transparent inquiry and release Mr Navalny’s body without delay.
The spokesperson said a senior official told Russian ambassador Oleg Stepanov of their condemnation over his death.
The UK and other European countries including France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands have also summoned diplomats from Russian embassies.
