Nani Must Serve His Pending Red Card Earned At Fernerbahce, Before He Plays For New Club Valencia.

Luis Nani will miss Valencia’s first La Liga game of the 2016/17 season because he’s yet to serve a red card earned while playing for Fernerbahce during the Turkish Cup Final.

Nani left Manchester United for the Turkish side but spent a season before moving on loan to his former club Sporting Lisbon.

Super Deporte notes the Portugal forward was dismissed after full time of Galatasaray’s 1-0 win over Fenerbahce and hadn’t served his suspension by the time he joined Los Che, Football Espana wrote.

As a result of the ban, Nani will miss Valencia’s opener against Las Palmas at Mestalla.

This unavoidable delay means the 29-year-old will have to wait for a debut League game until August 27 at Eibar, and his “home bow” to September 11, when they play Real Betis after the international break.

Reports confirm  Luis Nani was sent off for confronting referee Mete Kalkavan at full time during the Turkish Cup Final. The former Manchester United winger had grudges with the match official’s performance and wanted to express how he felt.

In response to the player’s “bad review”, the referee booked him for a yellow and that decision provoked increased complaints.

As Nani charged in anger, Mete showed him a red card–marking a start for FIFA’s new rules which aim at protecting match officials and keeping violence in check.

The Portugal international player made 55 league appearances in his last two spells in as many seasons, scoring on 15 different occasions but has failed to win a major trophy since leaving the Red Devils.
