MUST-BE-A-MISTAKE: Grandma rejects grandson after birth for being too ugly

An angry Colombian grandmother has rejected her grandson for being too ugly. She claims the baby doesn’t look like any member of her family, and could have been swapped after birth.

A woman took her newborn grandson back to the clinic where he was delivered and accused staff of swapping him for another baby

The incident occurred at a clinic in Santa Marta area of Columbia.

Reports confirm this heartbroken grandmother returned her grandson and daughter to the hospital management, and explained her reasons for the weird behavior.

However, the hospital staff denied all allegations of child-swapping.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, this new born baby was the only male child delivered on that day, so there was no chance for errors.

“The grandmother was not very happy,” Carlos Pallares, the Health Secretary at Santa Marta City Council said in a statement.

“She did not identify the baby as a new member of the family and therefore she decided to come back to the clinic along with the mother of the baby to return him.

“The situation should be accepted. Sometimes biology, genetics play a role in these mistakes and we should accept them.”

Another report on this incident says the hospital staff conducted some tests to prove the doubting grandmother wrong.

She later accepted her grandson who is said to be in good health and living with the family at this moment.

She thought the baby had been swapped in clinic in the city of Santa Marta, pictured, in the northern Colombian department of Magdalena

Meanwhile, a representative for the city council Chadan Rosado said “the grandmother is undergoing psychological treatment,” and advised people to get some knowledge about genetics instead of condemning women and their children for such reasons.

Rosado also urged people not to be too quick in judging the angry grandmother.

While it is possible that the aged woman’s life experience may have sparked her suspicions, it remains unclear why she thought the child was too ugly.

An online comment on the report reads: “What an awful Grandma can only think she has a serious problem. This little boy will grow up beautiful as beauty is in the eye of the beholder and does not necessarily need to be physical beauty. He will have a wonderful nature and will never be the sad unkind person he has for a Grandma.

“One of my kids grandma’s was an awful person and when she died one of mine only went to her funeral because he felt obliged to as his Dad was no longer here.

“Nothing to do with grief, loss or respect for that matter as he remembered the awful things she did to him as a child.”

Another one wrote: “Someone needs to tell her that Money back guarantee only works in department stores, not maternity clinics.”

One of the commenters revealed that a similar thing happened to Rod Stewart when he was born.

“Poor baby. The problems with all this plastic surgery is that children will not resemble their parents. Whether it’s that in this case or latent genes I don’t know, but either way the baby needs protection from the grandmother,” another reader advised.

In 2012, a Chinese man sued his beautiful wife after she gave birth to an extraordinarily ugly baby.

During court trials, it was revealed that the charming wife transformed herself with cosmetic surgeries at the cost of £62,000, but never revealed this to him before their wedding.

For his pains, the angry man was awarded a whooping £75,000 by the court, Daily Mail reported at that time.
