Lionel Messi’s contract at Barcelona has made headlines in the past days, and it’s always taking twists and turns. As a concerned friend, Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has offered his piece of advice to the famous No. 10, saying he shouldn’t consider leaving the Spanish giants.
The player’s representatives were said to have contacted Barca president Josep Bartomeu, informing him of their agent’s decision not to extend his current contract at Camp Nou.
Then rumors singled out Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as the brain behind this”unholy” plot to lure Messi away from Camp Nou, an allegation he vehemently denied.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho, who has been rumored to have full support from Adidas to sign the Argentina international, says the player should stay at Barca.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach even added that the current World Best Player should consider ending his career with Barca.
Jose granted an interview ahead of United’s Thursday clash with Feyenoord in their Europa League second match.
“Messi is every season the same story, every season he is going to leave and he never leaves [the current La Liga champions],” Mourinho said.
“Honestly, I hope he never leaves because I think he belongs to Barcelona, I think Barcelona belongs to him. I think the natural tendency and the beautiful thing would be for him to start and to finish his career at Barcelona.
“For Manchester United, no for sure, and I think he will stay in Barcelona. That’s just a personal opinion.”

The Portuguese tactician isn’t the only one who wants Messi to end his career with Barca. Josep Bartomeu, the club’s president, said in a recent interview: “Everybody knows, and he knows, that our wish would be that he stops his career at Barcelona at any time he wants.
“He is the best player in the world, he is the No 1 by far of other players and of course there are all the opinions, but he is the best player in the history of football.”
