Manchester City are close to completing a deal to appoint Enzo Maresca as head coach, according to Sky in Italy.

Meziesblog understands that City will pay Chelsea more than £17m (€20m) in compensation and a verbal agreement has been reached by all parties. 

Our colleagues in Italy are also reporting that Maresca is due to travel to Manchester in the next 24 hours to sign a three-year contract. 

Maresca is said to be excited to start his new challenge as he prepares to succeed Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City and Chelsea did not comment when contacted by Meziesblog.
