A 59-year-old man who repeatedly raped a 3-year-old nephew until he grew up to 10, has been sentenced to over a century in prison. The sexual abuse was carried out for over a period of 7 years, according to the San Bernardino deputy district attorney Karen Schmauss.

Mario Hernandez from Upland, California, can now live the rest of his life behind bars.
Hernandez reportedly often withdrew food from the boy to bribe him to perform sexual acts, added Ms Schmauss, and he would tell the child: “You owe me.”
“He would also refuse to sign the boy’s school planner if he did not cooperate,” Ms Schmauss said in a statement.
“As the victim grew older, Hernandez threatened harm to the boy and his brother if they told anyone.”
The sexual assault victim summoned courage and confided in his schoolmates before Hernandez was exposed.
The young boy said the defendant also showed him pornography.
“The victim’s 11-year-old brother told police that he had observed one incident of sodomy through the blinds that separated the boys’ room from the defendant’s room, and that he had heard the bed shaking another time,” said Schmauss, according to the release.
Hernandez was charged with three counts of sodomy with a child of 10 years or younger, one count of oral copulation with a child aged 10 or younger, and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child. He was given the maximum sentence on 3 June.
Judge Stanford Reichert added: “The crimes showed a high degree of cruelty, viciousness and callousness.”
“This defendant will never again hurt a child,” Schmauss said. “The victim has been returned to the custody of his father and stepmother and is doing well.”
