La Liga president Javier Tebas says Messi is stuck with Barcelona

Lionel Messi’s current contract with Barcelona will expire on 30 June, 2018, but despite rumors of an imminent move to other big clubs which include Manchester City, PSG and Manchester United, La Liga president Javier Tebas claims the famous No. 10 has already extended his stay at Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi signed a lifetime contract with the German boot manufacturer Adidas

Earlier in September, SB Nation confirmed the legendary footballer wants to wait till the end of this year before considering discussions on his contract.

A Spanish TV station added that Messi will wait until summer, sometime around January, when he would be free to negotiate with other interested clubs.

Barca president Josep Maria Bathomeu told reporters in July that the famous Argentina international footballer had signed a contract which will expire in 2021.

Whereas reports from sports analysts say the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner has not sign any contract with the Spanish football giants, especially after Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain, Tebas claims Messi has already put pen to paper.

“Messi’s contract has been reviewed and renewed,” the 55-year-old Spaniard said to newsmen at a media event organised by Europa Press.

“Contracts become official when they are signed…not when reports about it surface in the media.

“I have conviction that Messi is still a Barca player. My source couldn’t have lied to me so, he has signed.”

Messi has been a Barca player since the age of 13 and his release clause currently stands at €300 million.
