Firefighting plane struck by drone while responding to blaze
A firefighting plane that was working over the area of the Palisades Fire has been struck a drone, the Federal Aviation Administration has said.
The aircraft landed safely and the incident is being investigated by the FAA.
It is a crime to interfere with firefighting efforts on public land, punishable by up to 12 months in prison.
The FAA can also fine a drone pilot up to $75,000 for interfering with wildfire response.
“The FAA treats these violations seriously and immediately considers swift enforcement action for these offences,” it said.
