KANO, July 13, 2026 — Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambition to secure a second term in office, describing continuity of the administration’s policies as important for national development.
The governor made the call following the submission of President Tinubu’s nomination form for the 2027 presidential election, an event he described as a significant step in Nigeria’s democratic process.
Yusuf, through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the Tinubu administration had introduced reforms aimed at repositioning the country and urged citizens to support the President’s continued leadership.
“President Tinubu’s leadership has set Nigeria on the path of development and reform. Nigerians should support his second-term bid to sustain this progress,” Yusuf said.
The governor urged Nigerians to put aside political, ethnic and religious differences, stressing that national unity was necessary to achieve economic growth, stability and sustainable development.
“We must rise above our differences and support policies that promote national growth, economic stability, and unity,” he added.
Yusuf described the nomination process as an important moment in the country’s democratic journey and expressed confidence that the electoral process would strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
“A renewed mandate will consolidate ongoing reforms and accelerate development across the country,” he stated.
The Kano governor also praised Vice President Kashim Shettima and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their efforts toward maintaining party unity and promoting what he described as a credible electoral process.
“We appreciate the efforts of the party leadership in ensuring transparency and strengthening democratic values,” he said.
Yusuf reaffirmed Kano State’s commitment to supporting programmes aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and promoting inclusive development.
The call comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with supporters and political groups across the country mobilising around President Tinubu’s second-term campaign.
