Their romantic relationship lasted only a few short years, but their friendship remained strong.
And Ben Affleck praised his former fiancee Jennifer Lopez as the ‘hardest-working person’ in the entertainment industry as she landed the cover of InStyle magazine latest issue released on Monday.
The 48-year-old Justice League star was one of just a few friends — and former lovers— to weigh in on Lopez’s lifestyle and longevity in an ever-changing celebrity scope.
‘I thought I had a good work ethic, but I was completely humbled and blown away by what she was committed to doing day in and day out, the seriousness in which she took her work, the quiet and dedicated way she went about accomplishing her goals, and then how she would go back and redouble her efforts,’ he told the publication.
Ben and Jen first met in 2001 while working together on the set of Gigli and were later engaged in 2002.
‘She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business,’ the Justice League actor said.
Despite calling it quits on their engagement and ending their romantic relationship in 2004, their friendship has remained strong through the years.
‘She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I’m so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves,’ the Gone Girl star said.
When it comes to the coveted JLo glow, Affleck was just as curious about her everlasting beauty as the rest of the world.
‘Where are you keeping the fountain of youth?’ he asked. ‘Why do you look the same as you did in 2003 and it kind of looks like I’m in my 40s … at best?’
Lopez wasn’t so shy doling out the compliments to her ex when she quipped: ‘Ben is funny! He still looks pretty good too.’
Jennifer — who has twin teens Emme and Max with ex Marc Anthony — admitted that she’s ‘living a dream’ and she’s wakes up every single morning with gratitude for the life that she lives.
‘I have tireless energy for what I do,’ she said. ‘I also have an amazing team who help me in every single way both personally and professionally. I really believe the most important thing is to have great people around you.’
