We reported earlier that Israel plans to move the focus of its offensive in Gaza further south after claiming to have dismantled Hamas in Khan Younis.
The city has been the scene of intense battles between Israel’s military and the militant group in recent weeks.
News agency Reuters has these images of Israeli soldiers operating in a location given as Khan Younis.
The images are taken from a handout video released yesterday by the Israel Defence Forces.
Defence minister Yoav Gallant said in a post to social media that Israeli troops have been successful in their fight against Hamas in the southern city.
Israel’s air and ground offensive could now move to nearby Rafah, the region’s most southern city, where more than half of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are estimated to be sheltering from the Israeli bombardment.
“We are achieving our missions in Khan Younis, and we will also reach Rafah and eliminate terror elements that threaten us,” Mr Gallant said.
