An Iran-backed Iraqi armed group says it will continue launching attacks on US forces.
In a statement, the armed group Nujaba said the attacks would carry on until US forces withdraw from Iraq and the Israel-Hamas war has ended.
It comes after the Iran-backed militant group Kataib Hezbollah said earlier this week it was suspending attacks on US forces following the killing of three US service members in a drone attack in Jordan.
The US has blamed the attack on Iran-backed militants.
In a statement, Nujaba’s leader, Akram al-Kaabi, said he understood Kataib Hezbollah’s decision, but Nujaba and other factions in the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) would continue operations.
For context: The IRI is an umbrella group of Iran-backed hardline Shia militias.
Groups under their banner have claimed more than 150 attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria since the Israel-Hamas war began in October.
Iran has denied direct involvement.
Earlier, Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi said his country will not start a war, but will “respond strongly” to anyone who bullies it.
