IDF seeking proof of Hamas’ chemical weapon capability

The Israeli military is still “looking for evidence” on whether Hamas militants had the materials to make chemical weapons when they stormed southern Israel on 7 October.

It comes after Israeli President Isaac Herzog said in an exclusive interview with Sky News that fighters were carrying instructions on how to make the weapons.

Israeli forces claim they discovered the manual, complete with diagrams, on the body of a dead fighter in Kibbutz Be’eri.

Sky News security and defence editor Deborah Haynes put a question on Mr Herzog’s comments to the IDF’s Major General Michael Edelstein during a news briefing.

He responded: “On the capabilities that you ask about, the chemicals… we are still looking for evidence about whether they had it or not.

“But the orders were there, as our President Herzog mentioned yesterday, orders were there on how to kill, how many to kill, how many to take as hostages.”

Israeli military attacks ‘suspicious aerial target’ from Lebanon

Israel’s military said it fired at a “suspicious aerial target” that crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on its Telegram channel that sirens were activated in some areas around the border as a precaution.

Fighting has flared at the Lebanon-Israeli border repeatedly during the war, raising fears it could escalate to a second front.
