IDF says it killed Hezbollah commander in Beirut strike

The Israeli military says it killed Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Muhammad Qubaisi in an airstrike on Beirut.

He was in charge of Hezbollah’s missiles and rockets force.

Qubaisi was struck alongside other central commanders of Hezbollah’s missiles and rockets force, the military has said in a statement.

It adds that he joined Hezbollah in the 1980s and has since held several significant military roles within the organisation.

He was responsible for planning and executing numerous attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers, according to the IDF.

“Over the years and during the war, he was responsible for launching missiles toward the Israeli civilians,” the military says.

“Qubaisi was a significant source of knowledge in the field of missiles and had close ties to senior military leaders in Hezbollah.”

According to Lebanese officials, the number killed in Israeli attacks in the past two days stands at 564, with nearly 2,000 injured.
