Historic church debunks claims it was destroyed by Israel

If you have been following this story, you may have come across reports that a historic church in Gaza had been destroyed by an Israeli bomb.

Rumours and social media posts have been circulating throughout the day claiming the Saint Porphyrios Orthodox Church had been struck.

But the church, which dates back hundreds of years, debunked the rumours on Facebook, telling people it was fine.

“Our beloved brothers in the Lord, we inform you that the church of Saint Porphyrios in Gaza is in the best condition,” it wrote

“The news you spread is nothing more than rumours. We thank all of you who asked and cared and we ask you to pray for us.”
