Hezbollah’s drone strike on Binyamina failed to trigger Israel’s air defence alert systems, which the Iran-backed group says was part of its plan to cause maximum destruction.
It says that, as part of a “qualitative and complex operation”, it launched dozens of missiles towards various targets in Israel “with the aim of occupying the Israeli air defence systems”.
“At the same time, the air force of the Islamic Resistance launched squadrons of various drones towards various areas in Acre and Haifa,” it added.
“The qualitative drones were able to penetrate the Israeli air defence radars without being detected and reached their target in a training camp for the elite Golani Brigade in the Binyamina area.
“They exploded in the rooms where dozens of Israeli enemy officers and soldiers were present who were preparing to participate in the attack on Lebanon, including senior officers, resulting in the killing and wounding of dozens.”
Hezbollah said Israel had undermined its capabilities and that what it”witnessed today in southern Haifa is a small fraction of what awaits it if it decides to continue its aggression against our noble and dear people”.
Israeli airstrike kills ‘at least 20 people’ at a school in central Gaza
An Israeli airstrike has killed at least 20 people at a school housing displaced people in central Gaza, according to local hospitals.
Women and children are reported to be among the dead after the strike in Nuseirat.
For context: Israel’s military regularly accuses Hamas operatives of concealing themselves in school buildings where displaced people have sought shelter.
Hamas has repeatedly denied these claims.
