Description

The University of Montana – Bitterroot College (UM Bitterroot) invites applications for a Health Science Lead. As the Health Science Lead, you will support the development and teaching of health-science programs and curriculum, workforce development, and partnership programming. We have an overall goal of increasing enrollment in health science programs and initiatives along with helping meet healthcare workforce needs in Western Montana and the greater region, and this position will play an integral part in achieving the goals.

To be successful in the position, a high degree of initiative is required, along with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This position reports to the Director of UM Bitterroot.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum for both credit and non credit programs in health science pathways ranging from dual enrollment high school students to working adults
  • Teach health science classes as needed; including but not limited to curriculum for medical assistants, certified nurse aide, and licensed practical nursing
  • Works collaboratively with Missoula Colleges health science department chair, program directors and faculty to develop strong education pathways for health science students attending UM Bitterroot College
  • Conducts planning of special events, including but not limited to events for students, clinical partners, donors, and the community
  • Directs social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), website platforms, and assists with other digital marketing efforts for UM Bitterroot College
  • Establish and maintain collaborations between UM Bitterroot College and external partners to better serve the students and the community
  • Establishes interdisciplinary partnerships across UM campuses and with industry partners to further develop a comprehensive health science pathway
  • Develops assessment protocols to evaluate program accomplishments, barriers, and possible improvements for current and future UM Bitterroot College Health Science programming
  • Conducts data collection initiatives to communicate health profession program performance to a broad audience (UM leadership, faculty, students, prospective students, healthcare partners, etc.)
  • Creates informative, timely, and accurate UM Bitterroot College graphics and communications
  • Other general administrative tasks and duties as assigned by UM Bitterroot College Director

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • One (1) year experience in program coordination, curriculum design, or teaching
  • At least one (1) year working at a healthcare facility
  • Understanding of instructional design and eLearning
  • Understanding of K-12 education, higher education, and healthcare
  • Ability to work on several projects at one time and adjust to fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; must be able to self start and take initiative with little direction or prompting
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to be flexible and collaborative

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year experience in program coordination, curriculum design, or teaching
  • At least one (1) year experience in instructional design and eLearning
  • At least one (1) year working at a healthcare facility in the role of CNA, MA, and/or LPN
  • Experience writing grants or managing grants
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teachers, students, faculty, and staff in an educational setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work with healthcare partners and educational institutions as it relates to workforce training and certificate/degree programming

Additional Information

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
