Position Description & Details
Bismarck State College (BSC) is seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and organized individual to serve as the Head Women’s Wrestling Coach. This dynamic role is ideal for someone who is passionate about empowering student-athletes through competitive athletics within a vibrant campus environment.
As the Head Coach, you will build and lead a competitive Women’s Wrestling program grounded in academic success, athletic excellence, and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
General Position
- All coaches have other duties that extend beyond their coaching duties; these additional duties will be assigned by the athletic director based on the needs of the institution.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, recordkeeping, and correspondence.
- Support campus programs and events through planning and logistics.
- Collaborate with departments to enhance student success and operational efficiency.
- Use college systems and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Demonstrate commitment to BSC’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions.
- Seek opportunities for process improvement and professional development.
Coaching
- Recruit the required number of intercollegiate-level student-athletes for the Women’s Wrestling program, per program requirements specified on the employment contract.
- Supports and coordinates the Women’s Wrestling student-athletes on enrollment procedures, academic programs, and financial aid.
- Responsible for the Women’s Wrestling student athletes to ensure all are academically eligible, making progress towards degree completion, and utilizing the Learning Skills Center when needed.
- Facilitates sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and playing tactics.
- Facilitates sportsmanship, respect, work ethic, and responsibility towards athletics and the community.
- In cooperation with the Director of Athletics, schedules games and tournaments.
- Manages the budget.
- Coordinates the purchase, inventory, repair, and maintenance of uniforms/supplies.
- Schedules and supervises practices.
- Schedule, supervise, and support practices and the Strength/Conditioning coach for physical, including attendance, intensity, and work ethic.
- Supervises assistant coach(s)
- Conducts post-season analysis, player development, and summer training plans.
- Assists with game day supervision, as well as gymnasium set-up/field preparation and take-down following athletic contests.
Additional Duties
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 3 years coaching experience.
- Collegiate athletic recruiting experience.
- Effective public and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Women’s Wrestling competition, rules, and strategies per NAIA.
- Recruiting skills and ability to assess athletic talent with knowledge of recruiting compliance and regulations.
- Leadership and motivational skills, and the ability to serve as a positive role model.
- The ability to market the College and its athletic program to potential students and the community.
- The ability to organize and implement fundraising projects.
- The ability to build and sustain successful intercollegiate athletic programs.
- The ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Collegiate Athletic Women’s Wrestling Head Coach experience.
- Collegiate Athletic Women’s Wrestling coaching experience.
- Collegiate Athletic Social Media experience.
- Collegiate Athletic academic eligibility experience.
