The war is “risking a lost generation”, the head of the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees has warned, as more than 500,000 children are out of school.
“Every day of war deepens the scars,” he wrote on X.
“Children are being robbed of childhood. This needs to be reversed starting with a humanitarian ceasefire.”
The UK and US are among 16 countries that have suspended funding for UNRWA after Israeli accusations that 12 employees were involved in the assault.
The prospect of the agency closing services has caused alarm among aid charities, as it is said to provide a lifeline for the people of Gaza.
UNRWA says Israel has not provided it with evidence to support the allegations.
Two outlets that report they have seen the intelligence dossier compiled by Israel, the FT and Channel 4, say it provides “no evidence” for the claims.
The US has said it found the allegations “highly, highly credible”.
