A Voice That Brought Joy

His death triggered an outpouring of tributes from friends and fans alike. Comedian Ayo Ajewole, who is popularly known as Woli Agba, described Toluwanisings’ death as “sunset at midday”.

“Sunset at Midday. Ah! Toluwanisings! An angel just passed on. A VERY UNIQUE VOICE has dropped the microphone and walked off the stage just like that. What a painful and heartbreaking loss!” he wrote on his Instagram page.

“A voice that brought joy, touched souls, and made beautiful memories has gone silent too soon. Life can be so unpredictable; one moment, we are celebrating life, and the next, we are struggling to find the words to express our grief.

“Toluwanisings, your departure has left a painful void in the hearts of many. It is difficult to understand, and even more difficult to accept. Some departures leave us speechless, and this is one of them.

“May the Almighty God comfort your family, friends, colleagues, fans, and everyone whose life you touched. May He grant us the strength to bear this painful loss, and may the beautiful memories you leave behind bring comfort in this season of sorrow. Can’t believe I am typing all these.”

For gospel singer Tope Alabi, Toluwanisings’ death came as a “big shock”.

“I still can’t wrap my head around this. It hurts, but I will not sorrow as those who have no hope. I find comfort in knowing that a saint has joined the angels,” the Ogun-born graduate of The Polytechnic Ibadan wrote in an Instagram post while paying tribute to the deceased.

“Toluwanisings, rest on, dear one, in the bosom of your Lord. May God comfort and strengthen your family, friends, and colleagues. You will forever be remembered.”

In a comment on the post announcing the singer’s death, filmmaker Funke Akindele wrote: “Ha. Hmmmm, such a humble and hard-working gentleman. May his soul rest in peace. May the lord comfort his loved ones.”

In July, the singer and the crew survived an auto crash when they were returning from a ministration.

Toluwanisings, who posted videos and photos of the accident, wrote on his Instagram page: “And we survived what would have claimed our lives.”

Describing it as a plot by the devil, he said, “When the enemy came like a flood, the Spirit of the lord raised a standard against them!

“This is how my team and I would have been totally crushed by a fully loaded trailer on our way from a ministration this morning. Everyone is fine, and we are good. Thank you all for your call and messages.”

Toluwanisings was renowned for his energetic praise songs. Some of his hits include “Eleda” and “I’m Not Alone”.
