A heartless young man who crashed into an 11-year-old girl, kidnapped and raped the victim before leaving her for dead in a ditch, has been arrested by police. He attacked the girl on her way to school.
The suspect, a 20-year-old boy named Larry Ward, has been charged with aggravated assault, child rape and kidnapping.
According a report from The Independent, Larry first hit his victim with a car near an intersection at a location in Memphis, Tennesse. He then got out of the Sports Utility Vehicle, grabbed her and drove off to an unknown destination.
Larry raped the helpless girl, leaving her in a life-threatening condition. She was bruised and battered.
A man who was on his way to work heard someone crying at a distance before he went steps further to discover the rape victim.
The good Samaritan Cameron Fifer told WMC: “First thing she said was, ‘I just got raped’.”
A local media report quotes the victim’s mother as saying:“He snatched her, put her in the truck, raped her, and then dropped her off.”
The suspect will be arraigned in court 8 December.
Memphis Police Department director Mike Rallings advised parents to ensure that their kids walk in groups.
Rallings spoke with reporters on Monday, saying: “That broke my heart to imagine that a little innocent 11-year-old girl, on the way to school, was brutally attacked by anyone.
“I’m glad that we have worked again to bring that family some closure.”
