The F1 Champion’s son Gary Brabham has been charged with rape and indecent treatment of a minor. He was found guilty for the offense and is facing a 6-month prison time.
The 55-year-old Gary Thomas Brabham was convicted at Brisbane’s District Court last month after pleading not guilty to the charges involving a child under 12.
He is a former Formula Ford and Formula 3 driver in Europe. He has been sentenced today to 18 months in prison. The prison term is expected to be suspended after six months.
Australian Associated Press reported that during the trial, prosecutors alleged the offences took place between 2003 and 2007 when the girl was aged between six and 10.
Gary Brabham failed at his initial attempts to join Formula One racing in 1990. He lost hope in the ambition after he failed his first two races of the season.
